Active Pursuits: Horseback Riding Frommer

One of the best ways to see this spectacular country is by horse. Roudy's Telluride Horseback Adventures (tel. 970/728-9611; www.ridewithroudy.com) has "gentle horses for gentle people and fast horses for fast people, and for people who don't like to ride, horses that don't like to be rode." Operating year-round, the company offers 1-hour rides for $35, 2-hour rides for $60, and all-day rides for $125. There are also breakfast ($75) and dinner ($125) rides; ask about rates for multiday pack trips in summer and private rides.
